Enrichment Classes at Cornerstone

PEF is pleased to introduce Summer Enrichment classes at our Cornerstone Campus for those interested in extending their Summer Elementary school day or students interested attending only afternoon classes.

Enrichment classes will be offered in one, two or four week increments.

Students do not need to be enrolled in PVPUSD to participate in the Summer Enrichment classes. Campers will meet in the MPR each day at noon. Lunch and recess will take place from 12:00pm – 12:30pm. Campers are required to bring a brown-bag lunch daily. There is no food for purchase. Water is available. At 12:30pm campers will break into their class selections.  At 3:00pm campers will be walked to the drop off / pick up zone and parents and/or guardians will sign their child out.  Hats are encouraged as campers will spend time outside and we expect lots of sunshine each day.

Neverland Unveiled: A Journey into Theatre with Peter Pan – 4-week session

Hello! I’m Mrs. Cartwright, and I’m thrilled to share my passion for the performing arts with your child. With 22 years of dance experience and a decade immersed in the world of musical theater, I bring a wealth of knowledge and creativity to the stage. My approach to producing and directing school plays is anything but conventional—I firmly believe in putting students at the forefront of the creative process. Together, we explore and unleash their imaginations in a safe and nurturing environment, where confidence flourishes. As a compassionate and proud teacher at Cornerstone Elementary in PVPUSD, I’ve had the joy of guiding numerous young talents on their theatrical journey. Weeks 1 & 2 (June 17 - June 28)

PVSG Jr. Farmers: Sunflowers, Seeds, Stewardship and STEAM – 2-week session

Explore the school farm through hands-on scientific fieldwork, seasonal culinary preparations and nature-based art, while building a STEAM skillset. Campers will plant, grow, cook, compost and create while immersed in the practice of the scientific process. The garden becomes a living, learning laboratory for our environmental stewards, through the lens of the vibrant outdoor classroom. Our Farmer-Chef instructors, Clorissa and Pati, will show campers how to harvest fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs from our own edible garden for every class. Jr. Farmers will be awakened to new tastes, learn new culinary techniques, and use local seasonal produce to prepare recipes from cuisines around the world, while learning how nutrition, math, science, art, and history can be discovered on their plate. Bring a reusable water bottle, sun hat and sunscreen as we will be working outside in full sun.  Please note on the Registration Form any dietary needs or restrictions. Class fee for the session includes healthy snacks, hydrating drinks, and a student prepared lunch. Grades K – 5

Sunshine and Scissors – 2-week session

Create a unique, personalized scrapbook to preserve your special summer memories with Ms. Crouthamel! Fun and engaging lessons to include Canva for kids, photography, journaling and making captions, effective organization skills, custom greeting cards, stickers, and more! Grades 2 – 5

Musical Marvels: Adventures in Composing & Recorder Magic for Elementary Maestros

Embark on a melodic voyage with “Musical Marvels: Adventures in Composing & Recorder Magic for Elementary Maestros” this summer! This dynamic and engaging class, led by Mrs. Perry is specially crafted for young music enthusiasts eager to explore the realms of composition and recorder playing. Whether you’re a beginner or already know how to play, everyone is welcome! Get ready to unleash your creativity as we delve into the art of crafting original tunes. Students will experience the thrill of creating their very own music and bringing it to life on the recorder. Our journey will be filled with fun, discovery, and the joy of making harmonious melodies uniquely our own. Join Mrs. Perry for an unforgettable experience where musical marvels come to life! Musical Theater – An Intro; Sing 1 & 2 Extravaganza

Incoming TK – Kindergarten students will enjoy learning how to paint their own sets, sing together Sing 1 & 2 songs, and sing solos in a microphone on the stage.  Students will perform what they have learned in the week, the last day of class in a mini- musical! Grades TK/K

“Let’s Go PV” Cheer Workshop by electriKIDS

Come celebrate your school spirit! Learn cheers, chants, and songs that highlight your team.  We’ll paint banners and decorate bullhorns with your school colors.  High-energy cheer dances and basic stunts round out the experience.  We’ll finish the workshop with an exciting pep rally! Grades 1 – 5    Week 1 only!

LEGO Learning

Hands-on learning in an engaging and collaborative environment with Mr. Kono! Students use LEGO bricks and tools to solve problems creatively and to excel at working with others and thinking critically. They will build models using a hands-on learning approach that actively involves students in their own learning process. This class will deliver play that’s fun, educational, and enriching for each child. Grades K – 5.

All Sports!

Join us for an action-packed summer adventure with Coach Daley, our enthusiastic PE teacher! Dive into a world of ever-changing sports surprises where each day brings a new game to master. From soccer showdowns to basketball bonanzas, thrilling pickleball matches, and everything in between, get ready to play, learn, and have a blast with friends! Let’s make this summer unforgettable with games that keep you on your toes!  Grades K – 5

Coach Daley is a seasoned PE teacher with 13 years of experience at Peninsula High and an additional 4 years focusing on elementary school education. He specializes in coaching boys’ soccer, flag football, and lacrosse, holding a Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration. He is a certified personal trainer and soccer coach, and also leads strength and fitness classes and wellness programs at Peninsula High. Coach Helmrich is an experienced PE teacher with 17 years of expertise at Peninsula, excelling as a swim, surf, and water polo coach. He holds a Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration and also teaches strength and fitness classes. He is dedicated to fostering athletic excellence and overall wellness among students.

Yoga, Sound, Meditation, & Art

Students will learn yoga poses and meditation in a fun and interactive way. Each day we will incorporate books, music, games, physical activities, and an art project! Research has shown that yoga can improve focus, memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behavior, as well as reduce anxiety, stress, depression, and hyperactive behavior in children. By incorporating meditation into their daily routine, your child will have the opportunity to tap into this valuable skill at a moment’s notice to help them find peace and quiet whenever they need it. Yoga is a fantastic tool to teach children about the world, nature, their mind, their emotions, and their bodies! Grades K – 2

Alisa Wright is a veteran teacher of 24 years, including many years working with UC Irvine developing math and science curriculum, training teachers, and leading STEM programs. She has a MA in Education and is also a 200 RYT yoga teacher and certified Sound Therapist

Dapplegray, Cornerstone, and Montemalaga Elementary School’s Music Teacher Ms. Anderson, welcomes your child back again this summer for dedicated attention in the area of performance on the stage!

We will learn:

  1. how to sing and speak confidently in a microphone on stage
  2. vocal technique
  3. how to choose songs for auditions that suit our voices- and choose 2 to perform
  4. how to work with others while singing simultaneously/ harmony/ direction
  5. and have fun and build upon each week with each other!

Students may enroll for 1 week or all 4.  I am accustomed to adjusting accordingly to the desires and personal aspirations of each student- the main goal of this course is to inspire and encourage music confidence on the stage. Handheld wireless microphones will be available for purchase for $25 on first day of class if child does not already own a personal microphone. Grades 2 – 5
